One foot here and one foot there, I feel like I’m everywhere…
The reflections on rainy nights make you see things in a different light…
This here sketch is the basis for my watercolor painting… it’s totally going to look different..way different, but I do like the way this turned out.
A series of my posters that made it in a show about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. I did 5 posters in 4 weeks and it was an awesome experience.
So I did this design volunteer work for the Denton Community Theater in which I created the poster based on their requirements. The type is hand rendered, and the floating head and dagger relate to the story. The head of the king comes from an old deck of playing cards and it’s supposed to be floating over a spot of blood; also there are quotes from the play inside the spot.
Overall I’m satisfied with the outcome but I wish I would have had more time to illustrate and add more elements to it. I did this right when i moved to Denton and I was still in transition mode from Bedford and I was also starting school and work. So I had a lot of things going on at that time. Hopefully more are to come.
Haven’t posted anything here in some while… I have a bunch of new images I need to put up as well. Today has been a very strange day, well the last couple of weeks have been that way. Sometimes daytime feels like a dream, but that might be caused by the fact that I don’t get the proper amount of sleep.
But today was a mix of good and bad, mostly bad. My car won’t start and i’m tired of kick-pushing my cruiser board around on windy weather. So I decided to get myself a bicycle. That i guess was the good part of my day. The bike is rad and old and got it for a great price. I’m going to fix it up and hopefully get to go on some bike rides while the weather is still nice. Other than that I ruined one of my watercolor paintings that I put in 5 hours of work and ran into people I haven’t seen in a good while. We are going to the bars since they are going through a breakup and they need some cheering up. Talking about breaking I did just broke my pipe, broke some jars in watercolor class, my car is broke and if I keep spending money like I do I will be broke as well. Either way, I should be in a bad mood cause all this shit happened and that I have a lot of work ahead of me. But it’s ok, life is bittersweet and I like the taste of it.
Going out on a Thursday is always fun.. I didn’t plan on going out, especially since I have a final tomorrow, but I’m glad I did. I went out by myself and ran into everybody I know and their mom’s at the bars on Fry. Rode a pedicab back to my apartment only to realize I drove my car to the bars, so I had to pedicab myself back to my car… that was fun as well. Denton, you will always be a special place for me!
But this weekend shall be gwed since Halloween starts early in the DFW!
For the rest of you just stay positive and things will get better! No doubt in it!
Monday Oct. 10th
I always dread sunday night/monday morning. My routine is usually to come to my apt, unpack groceries and clothes, do dishes, clean etc unless i’m recovering from drinking. Also, I tend to stay up doing design work till i pass out on the couch if I have time for that. I feel like tho sundays have always been like that for me in the past 2 years, or at least during the school year. I just can’t wait to have a design job, a real one, not like my last internship. Balancing school and personal life is difficult. Then comes monday, usually i run some errands or volunteer, eat nap and go to work for 6-7 hours.
One thing that I always dreaded about DFW is light pollution, but the glow is sure mesmerizing and surreal..
When did you get here?
Today was one of those days that everything seemed surreal and unexpected things happen. But 3 posters made it in a upcoming show and I’m stoked about it.
Two sleepless nights in one week… This would be the 4th or 5th night this semester… OH WELL
I can handle not sleeping like a champ and can do 24 hr like no big deal and I’m glad I’m not commuting anymore because I would have probably crashed again..
The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting longer and the weather is getting cooler…
This is the Old Denton Movie Theater, now it’s an actual theather. I did some volunteer work for them and they said a mural like this would be nice to do… I’d wish i’d have the time..and honestly I don’t think I could pull it off…
The month of September is a mix.
Haven’t written anything since school started. To many crazy things haven’t happened. I ran into the usual crowd from my old dorm and most of them are alright. My classes are super time consuming and sometimes frustrating. I spend most of my time drawing or sketching, and stuff like that.
I meet new people everyday but somehow I still manage to feel lonely when I’m by myself, oh well.. it’s probably that awkward week before my birthday or something.
Saturdays at work are enjoyable tho… First week a guy tripping on shrooms came in and he said his name was Jesus and was talking about ridiculous stuff, like how things are in his Univers, and love and his future daughter Bunny. Oh and he talked in riddles but I was abel to follow along. It was a lot of non-sense but I was entertained for like 2 hours if not more. The second week someone brought over an Iphone that they found in a tree. Well, of course I went on his facebook to see who it belongs too and messaged the owner telling them to bring me a Jimmy Johns if they want their phone back. This guy, which was a total Fry St. Bro, did so and brought me a Jimmy John at work. He lost his wallet, keys and iPhone that night. It kind of made me jealous not going to lie…But I ended up splitting the sandwich with with the other person working the Art Gallery. And then, later that day, there was a couple dancing tango or salsa through the empty white lightwell gallery, it was fun too watch. Well, this week the girl that usually works the art gallery got replaced by this really crazy feminist anarchist chick and she is pretty fun.. other than that, idk… I still need to buy more furniture cause i’m sick of eating on my coffee table… but my saving account is dwindling fast.
